Dog training - Puppy training- Behaviourist-Group sessions
It all starts from when they are young, giving your puppy the right tools from the beginning can be beneficial to both owner and dog. A dog is usually ready for training around eight weeks old.
You can book a one off, or a series of sessions, working on a one-to-one basis with the aim to give you all the knowledge to train your own dog in the future.
We also run puppy socialisation classes, this can be beneficial to building your dogs confidence.
Here at Salisbury Dog trainers we try to adhere to a positive approach to training or retraining your best friend. We use modern methods in our training sessions, using positive reinforcement (rewarding with treats and praise) and punishing (taking treats away)
We never make use of any techniques that could cause harm or distress to your four legged friend, such as shock collars.
Forest Tracking in many countries is a recognised sport. Unfortunatley the Uk does not hold this in such high asteem as our foreign counterparts. There are however small groups around the Uk that are trying to raise the profile of this activity.
Jenni from Salisbury Dog Trainers took this to its limit in her native country Finland, she became part of a voluntary search and rescue group that specialised in finding missing people
We have courses for beginners through to advanced in Forest Tracking. Dogs can learn how to scent track from as young as five months old You will learn how to lay tracks using food and clothing for your puppy or dog. Most dogs quickly pick up the scents as they find the tracks you have laid for them. This is great social outdoor activity for both owner and dog and especially your dog who will get brain work that will make them tired for days.
We run weekday and weekend courses in groups of three to four. You will get six hours of training in each level you complete and a certificate at the end.
Dog Walking Club
Our dog walking club is once a week and can be booked and payed for on a month by month basis. You will meet in a predetermined location, setting off an hour long walk, as part of a group of ten to twelve dogs and owners. This is a fantastic weekly social event, for both dogs and owners. Jenni will be working with you all, dealing with issues such as good heel walking and dogs that are reactive to others. Using tried and tested techniques over the month you will be able to feel more relaxed on walkies.
There will be opportunities to ask questions, gathering some good hints and tips for other training issues you may have. It will also give Jenni a chance to evaluate your dogs behavior, health and wellbeing and advise on whether you need specialised one to one training.
